HOST FAMILY AND FIRST BIBLE

In 1980 my mom, cousin and I were sponsored by “Bub” and “Toots” Van Zwol in Kent, Washington.
I loved them so much and the last time I saw them was 1992 before I started college. They were on their way to Arizona to retire.
I remember Mr Van Zwol loved bleu cheese and gave me a taste - it ruined me for years! My six year old refugee palate was not ready for bleu cheese! I thought I was going to die from mold poisoning.
And I remember “Toots” Van Zwol was a kind homemaker. She also had an identical sister.
My sponsors gave me this bible for Christmas in 1982 when I was eight years old. I loved this bible and remembered showing it off at church. I stared at the photos inside and enjoyed reading the stories.
Priceless memories. The bible and this photo of them are priceless to me. I learned my first English word: 7-Up.
